wesLEY Craven

He is mainly known for his extraordinary pioneering work of horror films especially for his work with the sub-genre, slasher. In the years since the arrival of his first film 'The Last House on the left' Craven has shown that he is a filmmaker full of hearts, guts and humour. Craven believed the best place to film a scary horror film would be in a safe place, this is to make you feel insecure even though you feel and believe that you are safe. Also he believed the absence of parents, authority would make the horror film better too because it makes you feel that your never safe.

cAROL j cLOVER
Carol J Clover is a American professor of film studies. Carol believed that horror should be filmed in a scary, horrible environment, which is stereotypical because as an audience we believe that is where a horror film should be traditionally filmed (e.g prison, graveyard, forest). Secondly Carol believed that everyone of any age has/ or enjoyed causing pain to someone. This is why there is so many different types of sub- genres and many different aged villains. Furthermore this conveys why the villains are best if there are issues with their childhood and if they're sexual disturbed because this then kind of gives the audience a brief overview of why they are this brutal, disturbing villain. She also believed that weapons such as knives, chainsaw, bats would be better than a gun this is because a knife for example means the killer is in close contact with their victim which makes the horror film more frightening.
